CASTROVILLE, Calif. - June 9, 2008 - Ausonio Incorporated is the first construction firm in Monterey County to be certified as a Green Builder through the Monterey Bay Area Green Business Program. In addition, Ausonio Incorporated recently received certification as a Green Business under the same program. The Monterey Bay Area Green Business Program recognizes local businesses that meet or exceed environmental standards for preventing pollution and conserving resources.

Launched in 2004 by Santa Cruz and Monterey County public agencies and nonprofit organizations, the Green Business Program assists, recognizes and promotes businesses that choose to operate their businesses in a more environmentally responsible way. Businesses seeking to be certified "green" must meet or exceed environmental standards for conserving resources, preventing pollution and minimizing waste, and comply with all environmental regulations. Practices include reducing water consumption, retrofitting lights and other equipment to conserve energy, reducing solid waste going to landfill by minimizing waste and recycling, and implementing practices that reduce pollution and protect worker safety.

"We are thrilled to receive this distinction," says Joe Piedimonte, LEED-accredited professional in New Construction, Renovations and Existing Buildings, and green building project manager of Ausonio Incorporated. "We are committed to operating a green business, and designing and building healthier buildings to create a healthier community."

Ausonio Incorporated serves clients ranging from commercial to residential, and was the recipient of the California Association of General Contractors' Constructor Award in 2007 in recognition of their innovation in materials for the construction of Chartwell School. The school is the first newly constructed campus in the nation to receive LEED Platinum certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED supports building sustainability by focusing on five vital areas: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. Ausonio Incorporated headquarters and offices in Castroville, CA, are presently seeking gold certification.
