MONTEREY, Calif. - November 16, 2005 - Monterey's exceptional eatery, the Sardine Factory, has brought aboard Douglas Sisk, a Certified Executive Chef accredited by the American Culinary Federation (ACF). Sisk previously cheffed for Faust's at the Adam's Mark Hotel and Cardwell's at the Plaza, both in St. Louis, SuperClubs and Hilton Resorts, as well as private golf clubs, cooking for the likes of Presidents Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush and the Prime Minister of Jamaica.

Sisk's lifelong passion for cooking began at age 14 when he began working in the restaurant business as a busboy and dishwasher. He went on to earn a dual degree in culinary arts and hotel restaurant management from Sullivan University in Louisville, Kentucky, where his mentors included Certified Master Pastry Chef Walter Rhea.

Over the next 18 years Sisk continued to refine his culinary skills and gain experience worldwide. He lived in Jamaica where he was a member of the National Culinary Team, winning the full spectrum of medals in national and international cooking competitions. He has since appeared on many television shows and mentored students through classes and seminars.

As Executive Chef of the Sardine Factory, Sisk will emphasize innovative and creative cuisine as well as staff training and empowerment. Whether or not he will employ his ice carving skills remains to be seen. Sisk replaces Robert Mancuso, who in April was named 2005 Chef of the Year by the ACF, Monterey Bay Chapter.
