Carmel, Calif. - May 2, 2006 - The Barnyard Shopping Village in association with the non-profit, Monterey Bay Certified Farmer's Market, will host a weekly organic farmer's market each Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning May 16th and lasting through late September. The Monterey Bay Certified Farmer's Market, celebrating its 30th anniversary, is an organization providing growers throughout the Tri County area the opportunity to sell their agricultural produce to the local community.

This is the second year the Barnyard has hosted the farmer's market and the event now attracts a loyal following, particularly from residents in Carmel Valley and Big Sur. Special events this season include a "Customer Bag Giveaway" on June 6th where visitors will receive a large reusable, earth-toned bag. The market featuring members of the Monterey Bay Certified Farmer's Market organization, will be 90% organic, with growers selling only agricultural products such as organic honey, olives, vegetables, fruits (including eight cherry varietals) and fresh cut flowers.

"We are excited to have the Farmer's Market back this year," said Stephanie Scholderer, General Manager of the Barnyard. "The market benefits local farmers and is a tremendous resource for fresh goods for our community. The lunchtime hours of the market and the ample parking make it a popular stop for shoppers and the lunch crowd dining at the Barnyard's seven restaurants."

For more information or questions concerning the market, please call the Barnyard Shopping Village at 831.624.8886 or visit www.thebarnyard.com or www.montereybayfarmers.org. The market will be held rain or shine.
