Local Chef Featured as a Judge for the National Restaurant Association’s 2009 National ProStart Invitational
"Top of the Class" is a special on the 2009 National ProStart Invitational that was held April 24-26, 2009 in San Diego, Calif. The show features Guy Fieri, popular Food Network host of three shows - Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Guy's Big Bite and Ultimate Recipe Showdown. Cutino is featured as one of the judges for the culinary competition.
The National ProStart Invitational is an intense, three-day culinary competition sponsored by the National Restaurant Association and is composed of two distinct competitions: the culinary and management competitions. Teams participating in the culinary competition must demonstrate their creative abilities through the preparation of a three-course meal in only 60 minutes. Teams participating in the management competition demonstrate their knowledge of the restaurant and foodservice industry by developing a restaurant proposal, delivering a verbal presentation, and applying critical thinking skills to challenges managers face in day-to-day operations.
ProStart is the career-building program for high school students who are interested in culinary arts and foodservice management. It offers students classroom study, mentored work experiences, and local and national competitions. The 2009 ProStart Invitational involved approximately 80,000 student participants in more than 1,650 schools, across 47 states, territories and districts.
