The Preserve Golf Club™ Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary
Famed Golf Course Designer Tom Fazio To Join Celebration
Limited to 300 members, the private equity club's award-winning course spans 350 acres that are veiled by towering oaks, rolling savannas and seasonal streams set against the backdrop of the Santa Lucia mountain range. The course's 73 playable acres feature views of hills and valleys, wetlands, creeks, and rocky formations that enhance each fairway and green, offering a tranquil setting free of distractions. A rustic Clubhouse designed to evoke Monterey's architectural traditions features a signature Pro Shop, lounge and library, casual dining indoors or out on sunny terraces, and men's and women's locker rooms with lounges.
"There are very few places that offer pristine natural beauty, quiet and solitude combined with a diverse set of experiences and activities," said Ed Zander, homeowner and Chairman of the Golf Board. "The Preserve truly is paradise."
Since the first golf ball was launched down the number one fairway ten years ago, the club has hosted numerous annual celebrations and traditions including men's and women's golf tournaments such as the Ladies' Round Up and Men's Boar Hunt, and the signature Stocker Cup, a nationally-ranked amateur tournament held in honor of The Preserve's co-founder, the late Peter C. Stocker.
Located on the Santa Lucia Preserve, the course rests among a 20,000 acre private community of families dedicated to nurturing and protecting the unique wildlife habitat they share. A vision conceived nearly 20 years ago, The Preserve has become the first successful large-scale model to achieve a balance of human settlement with sustainable biological conservation. An independent non-profit land trust, the Santa Lucia Conservancy, protects 90-percent of the Preserve's acreage in perpetuity as a wildlife habitat, allowing families to enjoy the same untouched landscape for generations.
