Monterey, California - June 8, 2010 - On June 15th at 4:00pm, an exclusive preview of the new Golf in the Kingdom: The Movie will be shown at Cinemark, Del Monte Center, where the some of the stars and the director herself will be in attendance. Following the screening there will be a reception at Tehama Golf Club at 6:00pm, giving guests an opportunity to mingle with the movie's stars and the author of the best-selling 1972 golf fiction novel on which the movie is based, Michael Murphy.

Starring in the movie are actors David O'Hara, Mason Gamble, Frances Fisher, Malcolm MacDowell, Julian Sands, JoAnne Whalley, Jim Turner, Tony Curran and Catherine Kellner. So far the actors confirmed for the event are Mason Gamble, Frances Fisher, Juliann Sands, Jim Turner and Tony Curran. Author Michael Murphy will also be in attendance.

Golf in the Kingdom is considered to be a classic in sports literature. The movie is a simple story of a young man's transformational journey. It is 1956 and Michael Murphy is on a train headed to Scotland. He has just graduated from Stanford University with a philosophy degree and is on his way to India to find the answers to life's greatest questions. On the way, he decides to play one last round of golf in Scotland. Murphy is paired with a teacher named Shivas Irons, who opens his eyes to "true gravity" and answers to the questions he was looking for.

Seating is limited and tickets are selling fast. The cost is $250.00 (tax deductable) for the private screening and the reception. All money raised from the Golf in the Kingdom: The Movie sneak peak goes directly to support The First Tee of Monterey County, a program located in Salinas that teaches over 5,000 students in Monterey County ages 4-17 life skills and the Nine Core Values through lessons on the golf course. The organization offers a wide range of programs and provides opportunities to students they would not otherwise have. Seventy-six percent of students are on scholarship, a funding need the Golf in the Kingdom: The Movie sneak peak is looking to fill.
