Annual Fundraiser Begins December 5th with All Proceeds to Benefit the Salvation Army of the Monterey Peninsula
According to Major Dave Yardley of the Salvation Army, the needs of the community have continued to escalate during the past two years. The economy has impacted so many that requests to the Salvation Army have increased as follows:
* 34% increase in their Homeless Feeding Program
* 41% increase in food boxes
* 85% increase in rental assistance
* 20% increase in the number of nights in their two housing programs
* 40% increase in services rendered to senior citizens
Last year, donations raised during the Sabu Shake, Sr. Memorial Christmas Fundraiser reached over $33,000. Over the past several years the Shake family has raised over $500,000.00 for the benefit of the Salvation Army for the Monterey Peninsula. In addition to their holiday fundraiser honoring their father they have also established an annual Sabu's Safari event that is held in the month of October.
Donations can be made between now and December 24th at any of the Shake family restaurants including the Old Fisherman's Grotto, The Fish Hopper, Isabella's Italian Seafood, Cabo's Wild Mexican Seafood, and Lattitudes at Lover's Point, or by mailing a check (written to the Salvation Army) to Old Fisherman's Grotto, P.O.
