Monterey, Calif. - January 8, 2005 - Students at Santa Catalina School will perform the play, Anne of Green Gables, on January 14, 15, 21 and 22 at the Performing Arts Center located at 1500 Mark Thomas Drive in Monterey. The play is appropriate for all ages and Santa Catalina School extends an invitation to the community to attend.

Based on the novel by L.M. Montgomery, this dramatization, written by Joseph Robinette, captures the charm and excitement of an orphan girl named Anne Shirley and her experiences with her new adopted family. The play recreates the memorable events and characters from the long-cherished novel of many generations. All the tragedies and triumphs marking Anne's growth from adolescence to adulthood are beautifully acted by talented young women in Santa Catalina School's Theatre Arts program.

Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. each day, with an additional matinee performance at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, January 21. Tickets are $5 for senior citizens and students; $7.50 for general admission. Reservations may be made by calling 655.9341 or by visiting the website at
