Theatre program reinvents classic fairy tale, 'The Princess and the Pea'

Monterey, Calif. - March 7, 2006 -The Santa Catalina School drama department has a wacky surprise for those who know the classic story of "The Princess and the Pea". Imagine the classic tale of royal courtship and comeuppance set to music and intertwined with sidesplitting shenanigans and you have Santa Catalina's production of the Mary Rodgers and Marshall Barer musical "Once Upon a Mattress".  Featured in the Santa Catalina production are Senior Genevieve Tarricco from Ranchos Palos Verdes as Princess Winnifred and Sophomore Camila de la Llata from Prunedale as the Jester.

Students will perform the musical on April 21, 22 and 27 at 7:30 p.m and on April 28 at 12:15 p.m. at the Santa Catalina Performing Arts Center located at 1500 Mark Thomas Drive in Monterey. The play is appropriate for all ages and the entire community is invited to attend.
