Monterey, Calif. - January 20, 2005 - Nationally known clinical psychologist, parenting expert and author, Dr. Wendy Mogel, will present a lecture for parents and educators on January 26 at 7:00 p.m. in Santa Catalina School's Performing Arts Center, located at 1500 Mark Thomas Drive in Monterey. Dr. Mogel's lecture is open to the public.

Dr. Mogel will present a humorous, inspiring, and effective lecture on how parents can meet the day-to-day challenge of raising self-reliant children. She helps parents turn their children's challenging traits into their greatest attributes. Mogel guides parents to "uphold their own parenting principles as they seek security in a society that is more and more dangerous, find grace in a culture that thrives on competition, and feel gratitude in an age of increasing materialism."

Dr. Mogel has taught psychological testing and parental guidance in the Department of Psychiatry at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and is the author of The Blessings of a Skinned Knee, a best-selling parenting book now in its 12th printing. She is co-founder of the Los Angeles Association of Independent School Counselors and serves on numerous boards, including the Council for Spiritual and Ethical Education, an inter-faith organization serving private schools. She also writes a parenting column for The Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles.
