MONTEREY, Calif.- Cannery Row will be will be smelling just a little bit sweeter and glowing a little bit brighter now with the addition of Monterey Soap & Candle Works, located across from Steinbeck Plaza. "Monterey Soap & Candle Works offers a nurturing, healing and relaxing product for everyone to enjoy", said manager Tippi Pollet.
By re-creating the ancient art of soap and candle making, Monterey Soap & Candle Works has been delighting customers with natural products since it opened in 1984 in Hawaii. With the opening of their 7th location on Cannery Row (their first mainland store), Monterey Soap & Candle Works will focus on creating localized scents inspired by Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay. "Our gourmet soaps and candles are made on-site," said owner Ken Stern, "we consider ourselves to be an entertainment retailer: our customers can actually watch how the products are made and enjoy the aromas as they cure in the racks."
The hand-made soap at Monterey Soap & Candle Works is infused with mild coastal and tropical fragrances along with essential oils, herbs, spices and natural mineral colors, which release wonderful scents during the bathing experience. This process, using old formulas and natural ingredients, produces soap that is more beneficial to the skin than its machine-made counterparts. The botanical candles are also made with age-old formulas providing a long-lasting, clean and dripless burn that fills the air with fresh coastal scents.In addition to its soap and candle creations, Monterey Soap & Candle Works will offer tropical lotions, bath gels, massage and body oils and other body and bath care products, as well as unique gift items.
