MARINA, Calif. - Marina Community Partners, comprised of Shea Properties, Centex Homes and Shea Homes, is pleased to announce that it has been chosen by the City of Marina's Selection Committee and affirmed by the City Council at its September 2, 2003 meeting to build the West and North University Villages on the former Fort Ord.

Marina Community Partners, an LLC, is formed by Shea Properties, Centex Homes and Shea Homes. Shea Properties has been successfully developing business parks and commercial/retail centers for 30 years and maintains relationships with national employers in the technology, retail and business sectors. Centex Homes, ranked as one of the top ten builders nationally for decades, pioneered the master planned community concept. Shea Homes, the largest privately held builder in the nation, is a California based subsidiary of the J.F. Shea family of companies established in 1881.

Marina Community Partners is teaming with Monterey Peninsula Engineering, a Marina based company established in 1980, South County Housing Corporation, Mahoney Tancredi & Lostrom, Pacific States, and Carmel Valley based Rana Creek Habitat Restoration.

Bart Bruno, President of Monterey Peninsula Engineering, stated, "University Villages is an incredible opportunity for the citizens and the City of Marina. With opportunities for both jobs and housing, Marina will be the most desirable city on the Monterey Peninsula to live in."

The Marina City Council action directs staff to commence negotiations for an initial Memorandum of Agreement leading to an Exclusive Negotiation Agreement.
