Local Dentists and Community Members Volunteer to “give Kids a Smile"
The American Dental Association created "Give Kids A Smile" to build support for public and private solutions that will allow children to receive regular oral health care. Held each February during National Children's Dental Health Month, "Give Kids A Smile" provides free oral health education, screening and treatment to children from low-income families across the country.
For the past three years the CCPDG has been participating in the "Give Kids A Smile" event. Through this program, many children who might not have visited a dentist or are otherwise unable to afford dental care were treated at no charge. Between the hours of 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. the group of 38 volunteers came together to provide children with more than $37,000 worth of dental services. Treatments for the children included teeth cleaning, fillings, crowns and oral hygiene education. For more information about the "Give Kids A Smile" program visit www.ada.org.
