International Director From Save the Children, Chloe O’gara, to Speak at Santa Catalina School Commencement Ceremony
Monterey, Calif. - May 31, 2006 - Chloe O'Gara, director of International Education with the Save the Children Foundation, will speak at Santa Catalina School's upper school commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 3. Save the Children is a leading international relief and development organization working to improve the well-being of children worldwide.
O'Gara, a Santa Catalina alumna, has development field experience in over 50 countries and is an international education professional in topics such as AIDS, gender, basic education, early childhood development and nutrition. O'Gara's work with Save the Children includes leading the development and implementation of the organization's education strategies, managing the worldwide education office and overseeing programs in 26 developing countries throughout Asia, Africa the Caribbean, Latin America and the Middle East. O'Gara also served in leadership capacities with the USAID office of Population, Wellstart International, USAID office of Women in Development, and USAID Office of Education.
This year's upper school commencement ceremony will honor 65 young women hailing from six states and six countries. The Santa Catalina graduates will be continuing their educations at a variety of top schools, including UCLA, Carnegie Mellon, NYU, Vanderbilt, USC, Notre Dame, Tufts, Cornell, and the University of Michigan to name a few. Elizabeth Diane Crosby of San Luis Obispo will present the invocation and Mary Katherine Campbell of Salinas will deliver the benediction.
