Housing Authority of the County of Monterey Promotes Nora Ruvalcaba to Regional Housing Manager

July 26, 2004

SALINAS, Calif.-Nora Ruvalcaba has been promoted to Regional Housing Manager for the Housing Authority of the County of Monterey (HACM). Ms. Ruvalcaba will oversee 17 Housing Authority properties comprised of 679 units throughout Salinas, Fort Ord, Monterey and Carmel Valley.

After joining the HACM in September of 1998 as a Receptionist/Cashier, Ms. Ruvalcaba's outstanding performance was quickly recognized and as a result was selected to take on the Eligibility Specialist position in June of 1999. In this position, she was responsible for verifying the eligibility status for several unique HACM programs such as Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher and the Farm Labor Housing Program. Ms. Ruvalcaba was acknowledged again for her hard work, compassion and dignity with which she treated each of her clients.

In January of 2003, Ms. Ruvalcaba was appointed as Area Housing Manager. It was in this capacity that she oversaw the rehabilitation of the Salinas Farm Labor Center and Chualar Farm Labor Center. Ms. Ruvalcaba coordinated all aspects of the rehabilitation, but most commendable was the way she balanced the needs of the clients with the project completion deadlines.

The HACM provides a variety of housing and services to low and moderate income residents of Monterey County. Actively involved in a variety of collaborative efforts to address welfare reform and develop affordable housing across a range of incomes within the County of Monterey, the Housing Authority promotes the goals of economic development, self-sufficiency, family unification and community empowerment.
