Governor Schwarzenegger Appoints Jeffery M. Davi Real Estate Commissioner
MONTEREY, Calif.--Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the appointment of Jeffery M. Davi as real estate commissioner.
"Jeff brings a wealth of practical knowledge and experience to the Department of Real Estate," said Governor Schwarzenegger. "He will provide the department with the leadership required to remain a nationwide leader in real estate licensing and regulation."
Davi has been the owner and managing broker of A.G. Davi Ltd since 1989. In this role he managed the daily operations of the agents and staff and oversaw all transactions. In addition, Davi has been the general partner and manager of Santa Lucia Square Associates LP since its founding in 2000. He has also worked as a loan officer and agent for the Financial Transaction Corporation and as realtor assistant with Wallace & Anderson Homes. Davi served twice as the state director of the California Association of Realtors, from 1994 to 1997 and from 2003 to 2004. His other experience includes service as president of the Economic Development Corporation of Monterey County, co-founder of the Affordable Housing Steering Council of Monterey County and a member of the board of directors of the Monterey County Visitor and Convention Bureau.

"I look forward to using my experience to continue the state's tradition of ensuring fair transactions through regulation and enforcement while balancing the interests of consumers, the industry and the public."
Davi, 36, of Monterey, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and business administration from St. Mary's College. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $123,255. Davi is a Republican.
The Department of Real Estate is part of the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency. The objective of the Department is to protect the public interest in regard to the offering of subdivided lands and the handling of real estate transactions by licensees. The Department is also responsible for the issuance of real estate licenses in California. The California real estate commissioner is the chief executive officer of the Department and is tasked with facilitating the administration and enforcement of the real estate law and the subdivided lands law.
