First Annual Monterey County Caregivers Conference to Be Held During National Caregivers Month
MONTEREY, California - October 5, 2005 - In celebration of National Caregivers Month in November, Monterey-based Community Care, Choice Home Health Care and local non-profit agency Health Projects Center, are jointly presenting a conference for healthcare professionals, family caregivers and those anticipating a future need to care for others. This free event will provide them with the tools, resources, education and support to care for those in need and provide them with the opportunity to learn how to find balance in caring for others and themselves.
WHO:
Community Care, Choice Home Health Care and local non-profit Health Projects Center
WHAT:
Monterey County Caregivers Conference: Celebrating Caregivers
Nationally known caregiving expert and Editor of Today's Caregiver magazine Gary Barg will moderate the event and provide the keynote address. Breakfast and lunch is provided to conference attendees, and community and corporate organizations will have information booths available to help those seeking resources and counsel.
WHEN:
Thursday, November 3, 2005
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
WHERE:
Monterey Hyatt Regency
One Old Golf Course Road
WHY:
The exponential growth in the elder population is quickly becoming a crisis in regard to the shrinking availability of facilities. Leases are too expensive, buildings are in dire need of renovation and it is becoming more common for hospitals to place those in need of care outside of their hometown. As a result, families will want to hire caregivers to keep "mom" or "dad" closer to home. The goal of the conference is to inform and prepare family caregivers, as well as healthcare professionals with the tools necessary to meet current and future caregiving challenges.
INFORMATION:
The conference is community sponsored and free to the public. To register on-line please visit www.communitycaremonterey.com or call 831.424.4359.
