First Annaul Monterey County Caregivers Conference to Be Held During National Caregivers Month
MONTEREY, California - October 17, 2005 - In celebration of National Caregivers Month in November, Monterey-based Community Care, Choice Home Health Care and local non-profit agency Health Projects Center, are jointly presenting a conference for family caregivers, health care professionals and those anticipating a future need to care for others on November 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Monterey Hyatt Regency located at One Old Golf Course Road.
The Monterey County Caregivers Conference: Celebrating Caregivers is a free event that will offer tools, resources, education and support to care for those in need and provide caregivers with the opportunity to learn how to find balance in caring for others and themselves. Nationally known caregiving expert and Editor-in-Chief of Today's Caregiver magazine Gary Barg will moderate the event and provide the keynote address. Breakfast and lunch is provided to conference attendees, and community and corporate organizations will have information booths available to help those seeking resources and counsel.
"The conference is an outlet to help educate and equip our community caregivers with the knowledge, tools and tips on caregiving and the resources available in Monterey County and to provide a respite from their day-to-day caregiving responsibilities," said Margarite Alvarez, President and CEO of Community Care and Choice Home Health Care. The exponential growth in the elder population is quickly becoming a crisis in regard to the shrinking availability of qualified caregivers and facilities. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in facilitated question and answer discussions on a variety of topics, including legal, financial, medical and safety issues, as well as learn stress reduction techniques.
