Edgewater Family Fun Center to Exhibit “‘dinosaurs’ of the Deep”
MONTEREY, Calif. - The Edgewater Family Fun Center, Cannery Row's premiere spot for high-tech arcade entertainment, has announced the opening of "Under Sea, Over Time: 'DINOSAURS' OF THE DEEP." Opening the week after Jurassic Park III's debut box office earnings grossed $50.3 million, "'DINOSAURS' OF THE DEEP" arrives just in time to give adults and children a peek at the amazing creatures that ruled the oceans when Dinosaurs ruled the land. The exhibit will showcase sea creatures spanning geological time from 360 million years ago to the present."Under Sea, Over Time: 'DINOSAURS' OF THE DEEP," an animatronic under sea adventure, is a production of Dino-MAE Creations, Inc., a California-based company that specializes in state-of-the-art animatronic exhibits throughout the world. With a team of paleontologists, artists, sculptors, engineers, computer technicians and painters, Dino-MAE creates life-like moving models of prehistoric creatures and modern creatures based on the latest scientific findings and fossil records. The computer-controlled replicas produce both movement and sound to enhance the creatures' authenticity and effect.
Located in the upstairs portion of the Edgewater Family Fun Center at 644 Wave Street in Monterey, the 6,000 square-foot exhibit will begin its run with a Grand Opening on August 1, 2001. Tickets to the exhibit are $6.95 for adults and $4.95 for children.
In addition to the exhibit, the Edgewater Family Fun Center will continue to offer its usual array of over 100 traditional, high-tech and interactive video games including: Coast-Rider; top-rated dance game, Pump; simulated boxing; Fast Track Air Hockey; Ice Ball; redemption games such as Gold Rush and Wheel of Fortune offering prizes from candy to laser gun toy sets, as well as rides on the center's historic 1905 carousel. Open to the public from 11 a.m., seven days a week, the Edgewater also welcomes groups and private parties.
