Salinas, Calif. - November 29, 2005 - Dr. Nancy Kotowski, Monterey County Associate Superintendent of Schools formally announced her campaign to run for Monterey County Superintendent of Schools at a press conference today. The press conference was held at the National Steinbeck Center in Old Town Salinas and brought together many prominent Monterey County leaders.

Introducing and endorsing Dr. Kotowski were David Armanasco, Armanasco Public Relations, Inc., President; Brian Contreras, 2nd Chance Family & Youth Services, Executive Director; Mae Johnson, Prominent Monterey County Educator; Basil Mills, Mills Family Farms, President and Sylvia Panetta.

During her speech, Dr. Kotowski presented fiscal accountability, recruiting and retaining highly qualified teachers, student achievement and student safety and health as key education issues. In her words, "I am here to make an impact on our students here in Monterey County.  Our administration will empower students for the future."

Throughout her 32 years of experience, Dr. Kotowski has excelled in all aspects of the education system based on her dedication to empowering youth for the future. For the past 14 years as Associate Superintendent of Schools for Monterey County, Dr. Kotowski has been providing leadership for the County's 24 school districts, 140 schools and 77,000 public school students. Recognized as an effective, prudent and resourceful community and educational visionary, Dr. Kotowski has been responsible for connecting the business and educational communities while securing millions of dollars in state, federal and other funding for educational services.

The election of the next Monterey County Superintendent of Schools will be on the June 2006 ballot.
