City of Marina and Marina Community Partners Will Present University Villages Specific Plan at Townhall Meeting
MARINA, Calif. - Representatives from Marina Community Partners, developer of University Villages and the City of Marina Redevelopment Agency, will hold a townhall meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, September 28 from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. at the Marina Community Center located at 211 Hillcrest Avenue. The development team will present for the first time, the University Villages Specific Plan which will include significantly more detail than has been seen to date.
The purpose of the meeting is to continue the Community Participation Program for the proposed University Villages development at the former Fort Ord, providing community members an opportunity to observe the evolving vision and plans, and to share their thoughts. The latest detailed graphic displays will also be unveiled. The community is invited to share in hot dogs, popcorn and ice cream before and after the meeting.
University Villages, a partnership between Marina Community Partners and the Marina Redevelopment Agency is planned on the former Fort Ord and is under design as a multiple use, new neighborhood that will complement and establish the City of Marina as the Gateway to the Monterey Peninsula. Marina Community Partners, an LLC, was formed by Shea Homes, Centex Homes and Shea Properties. For 30 years, Shea Properties has been successfully developing business parks and commercial/retail centers, maintaining relationships with national employers in the technology, retail and business sectors. Centex Homes, ranked as one of the top ten builders nationally for decades, pioneered the master planned community concept. Shea Homes, the largest privately held builder in the nation, is a California based subsidiary of the J.F. Shea family of companies established in 1881.
