City of Gonzales Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Digital Billboard Installed Along Highway 101
The City of Gonzales will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Feb. 26, 2006, at 11:00AM for a new digital billboard that was installed adjacent to Highway 101.
The first digital billboard in the area will serve as a modern communications platform providing community information and promotional opportunities for businesses. Once operational, the billboard is expected to reach thousands of daily commuters traveling through the Salinas Valley corridor.
"This project is about strengthening how we communicate with our community and the region," said Gonzales City Manager Carmen Gil. "The digital billboard will also allow the City to share timely public safety updates, promote local events and businesses, and generate revenue that supports City services, all in a way that reflects Gonzales' identity."
In addition to commercial advertising, the digital display will be used for City-endorsed announcements, emergency communications for law enforcement and fire services, and messaging during natural disasters. Local businesses will have access to discounted advertising opportunities, ensuring the billboard functions as a tool that supports small businesses, economic development, and community engagement.
The billboard was installed and will be operated by Legacy Signs. It features a single monopole structure with two high-resolution digital display faces oriented to serve both northbound and southbound Highway 101 traffic. The design incorporates architectural elements and color treatments inspired by Gonzales' visual character, including references to the City's Fourth Street archway and Alta Street corridor.
