Christmas Cheer and Charity Come Alive on Cannery Row
MONTEREY, Calif. ¡V December 6, 2005 ¡V This month Bubba Gump Shrimp Company on Cannery Row is determined to spread some holiday spirit. On Tuesdays through Thursdays throughout December, the popular waterfront restaurant is donating 30% of its proceeds after 4 PM to the Salvation Army to help local families in need. In addition, local school choirs and other musicians will perform in Bubba Gump Plaza among a dazzling forest of live, lighted trees.
"We want to share some cheer with our neighbors," said Dave Trombetta of Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. "We encourage the community to join us and help the Salvation Army help the needy in Monterey County this season, and have fun doing it!"
As part of Bubba Gump's holiday extravaganza, local school choruses and musicians will entertain outside (weather permitting) on selected evenings in December:
"X Tuesday, December 6, the Pacific Grove Middle School Ensemble performs at 6:30 PM;
"X Thursday, December 8, the Robert Down School Choir and the Forest Grove Elementary Choir perform at 6 PM and 6:30 PM respectively.
The fun continues as the Joyful Tidings Carolers grace Bubba Gump Plaza on Cannery Row Wednesday, December 14 and 21 at 7 PM. And rounding out the celebration, Russ Guarino and his band make it a "Dixieland Holiday" December 13, 15, 20, and 22 at 7 PM.
"Bubba Gump Shrimp Company is the Monterey Peninsula's number one place for food and fun all year long but especially during the holidays," says Trombetta. Visitors who come and enjoy the free music are welcome to bring a canned good or toy to donate.
