Children’s Museum Provides a Creative Solution to a Lazy Summer Day
The Monterey County Youth Museum (MY Museum), located on the world famous Cannery Row, is Monterey County's answer to bridging the educational downtime. MY Museum offers an opportunity to keep your children academically challenged during the summer while keeping them engaged in activities that utilize the skills they learned in school all year long. Studies show that children who take field trips and visit museums are much less likely to lose ground covered during the school year. MY Museum is a wonderful place where together, kids and parents, can go to "cook a pizza," explore science and nature, test their talent on the stage or even build a house, all while learning about the topics that interest them most. Just open the doors at this magical place and see which path your child takes.
One of MY Museum's most popular exhibits is the Creation Station. With more than 75 bins of arts and crafts materials, there is no telling what creations your child will bring home. At MY Theater, young actors and actresses will find everything they need to claim their 15 minutes of fame, complete with costumes, props, lights and a camera. Even toddlers have an exhibit of their very own with the Water Blocks exhibit, specifically designed to develop their fine motor skills while they learn their letters and numbers.
There is something for the entire family to enjoy at MY Museum. Located at 601 Wave Street, the Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed on Wednesday) and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information please call 831.649.6444 or visit MY Museum's website at www.mymuseum.org.
MY Museum's mission is to provide an environment where curiosity and creativity flourish while both children and adults learn together through experience. MY Museum is a place that engages children's thinking and guides inquiring minds to explore while enhancing self-esteem and encouraging the tremendous potential of every child.
