Children's Holiday Sand Castle Contest Comes to Cannery Row

MONTEREY, Calif. - On Sunday, December 15, Cannery Row Marketing will host a children's holiday Sand Castle Contest at McAbee Beach - weather permitting. The contest is for children 12 years and under. Parental approval and supervision is required.

First, second and third place winners will each receive a ribbon and prize. The contest will be judged by a small group of teenagers and their mentors from Big Brothers Big Sisters. Contestants may work in groups of up to four. One adult per group is allowed to provide guidance, although the adult cannot participate in sculpting. A holiday theme for sand sculptures is encouraged.

The contest is free and open to the public. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. The contest will take place between 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. Please register early, as plots are limited. Media is welcome. Excellent photo opportunities are available. For more information, please contact: 831.372.2259.
