Chartwell School will welcome the community at an open house September 5, 10:30 AM–noon, at 2511 Numa Watson Road in Seaside. The independent K-12 school is one of only two schools in California tailored to kids diagnosed with language-based learning differences such as dyslexia.

Chartwell continues to accept applications for the 2017-2018 school year, and the September 5 open house is an ideal opportunity to learn about the school's evidence-based curriculum for children who may not be reaching their full potential in traditional classrooms. Visitors to Chartwell can take a campus tour, visit students in classes, and speak with admissions consultants.

Chartwell programs include self-advocacy skills training, art, music, sports, and technology. Chartwell students have average or better intelligence but may have experienced trouble in school due to their difficulty with reading, writing, spelling and math. Chartwell's robust social/emotional program is effective at addressing students' anxiety and frustration due to previous and ongoing classroom struggles.

"Kids with dyslexia and other learning differences often feel anxiety in traditional classrooms and fall behind even though they are great thinkers. Chartwell turns that around," says Kate Mulligan, Interim Head of School.
