California Summer Music Presents Chamber Music Concerts This Weekend
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif.--The final chamber music concerts for California Summer Music (CSM) will be this Thursday, July 24; Friday, July 25; and Saturday, July 26 at 7:30pm, with additional concerts at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 26 and 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 27. They include masterworks of the chamber music repertoire as well as composition premieres of the works written by the composition students while in residence at Stevenson School.
"Our performance students are assigned music in May, arrive with their parts prepared, and work with a coach in the same group for three weeks to prepare these chamber works-very intensive and unusual," said CSM spokeswoman Sigrid Anderson.
Now in its eighth year, CSM offers 70 talented young violinists, violists, cellists, pianists and composers from around the world an intense program of instruction from some of the country's most gifted musicians.
Events will be held in Keck Auditorium and in the Gallery at the Stevenson Upper School campus, 3152 Forest Lake Road, Pebble Beach. For a schedule, call 415-753-8920 or visit the program's website at www.csmusic.org.
California Summer Music is supported in part by the Clarence E. Heller Charitable Foundation, the Eldorado Foundation, the Ross McKee Foundation for the Musical Arts, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Netherland-America Foundation, the BMI Foundation Inc., the Pebble Beach Company Foundation and the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Youth Fund.
