PEBBLE BEACH, Calif.--The California Summer Music (CSM) program for young musicians will take up residence at the Robert Louis Stevenson School in Pebble Beach from July 6-27. Concerts and master classes are free of charge and open to the public and will be offered nearly every evening at 7:30.

Now in its eighth year, CSM offers 70 talented young violinists, violists, cellists, pianists and composers from around the world an intense program of instruction from some of the country's most gifted musicians.

This season's highlights include a scholarship benefit concert by the world-renowned CSM faculty on July 6, a Family Concert hosted by the Carmel Bach Festival in the newly renovated Sunset Center on July 19, and a concert featuring works by award-winning composer Chen Yi on July 18. A faculty member of the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory, Dr. Chen has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Her honors include the Lili Boulanger Award, a Grammy Award, and the Ives Living Award.
