California Culinary Academy Educational Foundation to Celebrate 10th Annual Gala Dinner and Auction
MONTEREY, Calif. – October 17, 2005 – On October 29, 2005 the California Culinary Academy Educational Foundation (CCAEF) will celebrate its 10th Annual Gala Dinner and Auction. Approximately 300 people gather every fall at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco to support this wonderful event and to contribute to the educational needs of aspiring culinary stars.
Each year, a celebrity Chef is awarded a "Star" in the Chef's Walk of Fame. This commemorative walkway was created in 1997 in front of the California Culinary Academy to provide an illustrative and educational experience that highlights the culinary heritage of our country and the Bay Area in particular.
This year, CCAEF will bestow the honor to Bert Cutino, Certified Executive Chef and co-founder of the Sardine Factory in Monterey. The CCAEF Board selected Chef Cutino to receive the award based upon the significant contributions he has made to the food service industry as an educator, innovator, and role model, and for his consistent support of the California Culinary Academy and its Educational Foundation.
Bert is the recipient of many recognition awards, including the Distinguished College Alumni Award, US Congressional Record, and local-regional-national Chef of the Year, Diplomat, from the California Culinary Academy. He has served on the CCA Board and continues as an advisor, and was part of the 1988 and 1992 Culinary Olympics. He has been awarded competition Gold Medals and recognized in many Halls of Fame.
Bert joins sixteen outstanding chefs who have been inducted into the Walk of Fame, including Julia Child, Paul Prudhomme (K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen), Charlie Trotter (Charlie Trotter's), Roberto Gerometta (Nestle USA), Roland Passot (La Folie), Mark Miller (Coyote Café), Martin Yan (Yan Can Cook), Bradley Ogden (Lark Creek Restaurant Group), Mark Franz (Farallon), Kirk Webber (Café Kati), Herman Rusch (The Greenbrier), Gunther Heiland (Desserts International) and the late Barbara Tropp (China Moon Café).
