Café Fina
Monterey, California - June 28, 2010 - Café Fina opened its doors on June 28, 1989 and what was originally Dominic Mercurio's rooftop diving board became his first restaurant.

Since 1989, Café Fina has started growing its own produce for its restaurants at Dominic's ranch. With over 21 varieties of fruits and vegetables, the ranch provides organic, quality produce tended to by Café Fina staff which makes all their dishes extremely fresh.

Café Fina also recently became a member of the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch Restaurant Program, which certified what they had been doing for years. Sustainably sourced seafood and the restaurant's relationship with local fishermen keep the seafood some of the highest quality around.

Squid Kids, which started in 2008, has also been an important addition to Café Fina. Squid Kids is a free program offered to elementary schools which teaches students about fishing and seafood nutrition in the Monterey Bay. The students travel around to stations: at the first they get to touch and smell crabs, sardines, large salmon and clams; next they see and learn about an array of fishing gadgets such as old depth finders, pulleys, net needles, propellers, and more as they are explained how fish are caught. They also are introduced to seafood such as calamari or sardines and are consistently pleasantly surprised.

Over the years, Dominic and the Café Fina staff have cooked for John Madden's induction into the Hall of Fame, for stars such as Rachael Ray, Kenny Chesney, Captain Jon from The Deadliest Catch as well as a number of other celebrities whose photos line the entrance to the restaurant.
