Barnyard Shopping Village Hosts 17th Annual Art & Wine Festival
CARMEL, Calif. - June 13, 2006 - The Barnyard Shopping Village will host its 17th Annual Art & Wine Festival on Saturday, June 17 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the newly unveiled property makeover, stroll through the gardens, visit with local artisans and pair local wine with cuisine from six of the Barnyard restaurants.
The event will also include classic, big-band music performed by Lee Durley and the Easy Street Band, a $100 drawing for a Barnyard dining gift certificate, and a fashion show by From Tee to Green, a women's specialty golf shop. During the event, the Carmel Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the Barnyard's renovations and community presence.
This year's Art & Wine Festival is a celebration of community, featuring Barnyard artisans and merchants, a silent auction to benefit a local domestic abuse safe house, and 15 Monterey County vintners. Visiting wineries include, Bernardus, Blackstone, Chateau Julien, Galante, Hahn/Smith & Hook, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines, Joullian, Newell Vineyards, Paraiso, Parsanage, San Saba, Scheid, Silver Mountain, Ronan Cellars, and Wines of Carmel.
Complementing the delicious wines will be the superb world cuisine of the Barnyard's restaurants and cafes; Allegro Gourmet Pizzeria, Bahama Billy's, Bixby Bistro, Lugano Swiss Bistro, Robata Grill and Sake Bar, Sherlock Holmes Pub & Restaurant and the Carmel Valley Roasting Company.
The festival will include a silent auction where participants may bid on items donated by participating wineries, artists, and Barnyard merchants with all proceeds benefiting YWCA Lawson House, a safe house offering shelter and service for women and children overcoming domestic violence.

The Barnyard Shopping Village, built in Carmel in 1976, is a landmark on the Monterey Peninsula, featuring 50 merchants ranging from boutique shops, restaurants, office spaces, salons and art galleries.
