New Personalized Training Facility Launches Athletes to the Next Level in Fitness

CARMEL, CALIF. – April 26, 2007 – The Barnyard Shopping Village in Carmel, California, has announced that Rocket Fitness, an upscale, personalized training facility catering to both the novice and advanced athlete will be opening its doors on Tuesday, May 1, 2007. Owners, Bobby and Kelly Walthour are committed to creating a fun and light environment that is geared toward everyone.

The purpose of Rocket Fitness is to motivate people to find the joy in physical fitness.  Their mission is to "Launch You to the Next Level in Fitness."  Kelly Walthour says of husband and fitness partner, Bobby Walthour, "Bobby wants to take 'good' and make it 'better'.  He feels that anyone – athletic or not – can take their level of fitness and make it better."  Bobby is dedicated to teaching people that they have talents.  "Movement is what it's about," Bobby says, "The main thing is to have fun!"

Rocket Fitness is open by appointment only, and has flexible hours of operation.  Bobby is taking appointments from as early as 5:30 a.m. to as late as 7 p.m.  While this fitness center is open to all levels of fitness, Bobby would also like to continue to focus on sports performance coaching, as he is a former pro-bike racer himself.

Bobby Walthour is a graduate Saint Mary's College with a degree in physical education.  He was a former member of the U.S. National Cycling Team and taught physical education for over ten years at a local kindergarten through eighth grade private school.  He also owned a small gym in Carmel, where he offered personal training.  When his Carmel gym started to grow faster than the space could accommodate, Bobby and Kelly decided to take their gym to the next level.  They moved from a small 400 square foot gym to a space that is now 1,000 square feet.

Bobby was a pro-bike racer for over 20 years and is a certified personal trainer through the American Council of Exercise.  Bobby comes from a family that has extensive physical education background; his mother was the Athletic Director, Physical Education Instructor and Field Hockey Coach at Monterey High School, and his father was the Physical Education Instructor at Carmel High School.

Rocket Fitness will open Tuesday, May 1, 2007 and will have flexible hours of operation that are by appointment only.  Rocket Fitness is located at 3628 The Barnyard, in the lower level of the Lobos Barn.   For more information call 831-625-3885 or visit their website at www.rocketfitness.com.
