Newly Released Dvd Offers Women Hope After Breast Cancer
MONTEREY, Calif. - May 3, 2007 - Monterey plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. David T. Morwood is proud to announce the release of "Breast Reconstruction-Know Your Options: A Guide for the Woman with Breast Cancer." The groundbreaking DVD explores in-depth the major issues and options in breast reconstruction. Co-hosted by Dina Eastwood, wife of actor/director Clint Eastwood and former Monterey Bay Area anchorwoman, the DVD is the most up-to-date resource of its kind for women with breast cancer.
"An initial office consultation about breast reconstruction can be completely overwhelming," said Dr. Morwood. "We created the DVD so women could take their time learning about their options, and view the information in the privacy and comfort of their own homes."
Dr. Morwood is the chief of the plastic surgery division of the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. On the DVD, Dr. Morwood, Dina Eastwood, and 25 national breast cancer experts demystify breast reconstruction and empower women to select an option that makes them feel whole and improves their quality of life. Also on the DVD, women share their own stories and experiences with breast reconstruction.
The project began as a presentation to breast cancer support groups, and grew into the DVD after Dr. Morwood saw how many women had misconceptions and needed better information. Women said they needed to hear actual patients talking about their experiences, and to see before and after photos. There was simply nothing like this DVD available to them.
Produced in Carmel, showing scenes from the Monterey Peninsula, the DVD features original music performed by the David Morwood Jazz Band.
"Breast Reconstruction-Know Your Options: A Guide for the Woman with Breast Cancer" is a not-for-profit, educational project.
