Monterey Institute of International Studies Sponsors Workshop for Local Teachers

SALINAS, Calif. - September 24, 2008 - The Monterey Institute of International Studies' Graduate School of Language and Educational Linguistics is sponsoring a half-day workshop for local teachers entitled "Creative Voices in the Classroom", to inspire teachers to tap into the creative imagination found in every student. The workshop is open to K-12, community college, adult school, and higher education teachers, and features Dr. Andrea Lunsford, of the Bread Loaf School of English and Stanford University, who specializes in the teaching of writing and the creation of writing centers to develop students' academic writing skills. Continuing education credit is available to those who attend.

The workshop will be held in the Performing Arts Facility at Hartnell College at 411 Central Avenue in Salinas on October 11, 2008 from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
