Monterey Institute of International Studies Hosts Groundbreaking Event for Student-Led Community Garden

MONTEREY, Calif. - September 26, 2008 - The Monterey Institute of International Studies is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for their student-led community garden at 426 Van Buren Street on Friday, October 3, 2008 from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Led by the student organization, "Our Green Thumb", the garden aims to provide students with the opportunity to learn and practice sustainable gardening techniques while providing fresh fruits and vegetables to the MIIS community. The ceremony will commence with Clara Yu, President of MIIS, presenting the garden. A champagne reception will follow in the courtyard of the Holland Center located at 442 ½ Van Buren Street.
