Monterey Institute of International Studies Announces Winter Commencement Ceremony on December 14th

Ninety-three students from 19 countries to receive master's degrees

MONTEREY, Calif. - December 10, 2008 - The Monterey Institute of International Studies' Winter Commencement ceremony will occur this Sunday, December 14, 2008. The procession will begin at 12:55 PM from the McGowan Building located at 411 Pacific Street to the Serra II Ballroom located within the Monterey Conference Center. The procession will be led by Professor Mike Gillen, playing the bagpipes, followed by students carrying flags representing the home countries of the graduating students, the president's party, faculty, and the graduates led by Professor Fernando De Paolis. The ceremony will include remarks from Professor Yuwei Shi, recipient of MIIS' Excellence in Teaching Award, and graduating international policy student Joyce Laker, a Fulbright Scholar from Uganda.

WHEN: Sunday, December 14, 2008 12:55 PM - Procession from the McGowan Building at 411 Pacific Street to the Monterey Conference Center (in the event of rain, the procession will begin in the lower lobby of the Conference Center). 1:00 PM- Commencement Ceremony Begins. A reception will follow in the Samson Student Center.
