MIIS Celebrates Class of 2009 and New President With Two Day Event
Sunder Ramaswamy to be inaugurated as 13th president while 299 students receive master's degrees
Scheduled for May 15th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, the inaugural symposium, "Being The Solution: Building Leadership From Monterey To Mumbai," will feature a keynote address by Sunder Ramaswamy and sessions and stations highlighting a variety of student and faculty projects, accomplishments, and disciplines. The Commencement ceremony scheduled for May 16th from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm will celebrate the Institute's 299 Spring 2009 graduates. In addition, honorary degrees will be awarded to U.S. Congressman Sam Farr of Monterey, and former Egyptian Ambassador to the United States, Nabil Fahmy. Congressman Farr is a Monterey Institute graduate, and Ambassador Fahmy is both the keynote speaker at the Commencement, and the Chair of the new Middle East Nonproliferation Project at the Institute's James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies.
