Mayor Donohue Welcomes West Coast's Largest Light Sport Airplane Showroom to the Salinas Airport
SALINAS, Calif. – April 30, 2007 – Light Sport Airplanes West (LSAW), the largest dealer of Light Sport Airplanes on the West Coast, celebrated their Grand Opening this past Saturday, April 28, 2007 with more than 600 aviation enthusiasts from around the country. Salinas Mayor Dennis Donohue cut the ceremonial ribbon and declared Salinas as the Light Sport Capital. Dozens of pilots and their guests arrived by plane while others arrived by car to view the world's top Light Sport aircraft.
Guests strolled at leisure between the 5,600 square foot showroom where major distributor representatives discussed at length their plane's specifications and the terminal where LSAW provided demonstration flights, complimentary buffet lunch, and played host to several aviation vendor displays, including California Power Systems and Ballistic Recovery Systems Parachute.
"Celebrating our Grand Opening with 600 pilots was the icing on the cake for our team," said Mike Fletcher, Sr., LSAW founder. "The excitement felt from the aviation community and our local area on what LSAW is contributing to the Light Sport industry and our local economy, was really quite overwhelming. LSAW is committed to providing pilots with a unique, hands-on buying experience, and I guarantee we showed them what we do best."
Established in March, 2006, LSAW is expanding the availability of Light Sport Airplanes. The 5,600 square-foot LSAW Showroom, located at the airport in Salinas, California, is home to six world-class Light Sport manufacturers, featuring nine different Light Sport Airplane models.
LSAW boasts a wide variety of manufacturers and models under one roof enabling clients to choose the model that fits them best. Visiting LSAW is a great opportunity to compare features, styles, controls, seats, and instruments, among other elements, between different models. Clients are often able to take delivery of their new airplane sometimes immediately, avoiding the typical three to four month wait time. In addition, LSAW offers exceptional flight training for various licenses, veteran instructors, first-class aircraft for training, and an in-house maintenance department.
LSAW is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday by appointment. For additional information, please contact LSAW at 1-888-335-1AIR (1247) or visit www.lsawest.com.
