Leti Bocanegra of Kasavan Architects Receives ‘green’ Certification
Special Projects Manager Receives Certified Green Building Professional Designation
"I was very happy to have passed the exam, as this was my first attempt," says Bocanegra. "This was very valuable training for me because Kasavan Architects has been integrating sustainable features into their building designs since the early 70's - before they were labeled as "green." I feel this will help me contribute to the ongoing success of the firm."
The Certified Green Building Professional training is organized by Build It Green, a professional non-profit membership organization whose mission is to promote healthy, energy and resource-efficient buildings in California. Build It Green fosters collaboration with key stakeholder groups to accelerate the adoption of green building practices, policies and programs through its network of councils and also manages the GreenPoint Rated Program. GreenPoint Rated homes are verified to exceed state building and energy code requirements for health and environmental performance.
Kasavan Architects specializes in the design of K-12 schools, community colleges, public buildings and commercial building types. The firm has received many awards for its projects, including a Grand Award from the National Commercial Builders Council for the Grain Tower building in Salinas; an Award of Merit from the Coalition for Adequate School Housing and American Institute of Architects; a Students Love It Silver Award and a High Tech Bronze Award from SchoolDesinger.com; an Institutional Wood Design Award from Woodworks, Wood Products Council, for the Gilroy Unified School District Student Center Building; and a Design Award Citation from the American Institute of Architects, Monterey Bay for the Poppy Hills Golf Course.
