New and Innovative Marina Canine Project Launches Website, Highlighting Project Details and Vision
"We are pleased to share our new website, and hope it will help everyone interested understand our project and remain up-to-date on our progress," says Martha Diehl, co-chair of ICS. "ICS is the first facility of its kind anywhere. We intend to build a public campus in Marina where dog-related nonprofits and members of the community can work together, share resources and create facilities we will then share among the organizations and with the general public."
Besides the dedicated facilities needed for ADI and other ICS partners, the campus will include indoor and outdoor training and event facilities designed to host regional scale dog events like dog shows year-round as well as to provide a place for ongoing training, classes, workshops and seminars of all kinds. The ICS campus will also include public dog parks and community education programs promoting safe, healthy and responsible dog ownership, such as puppy training classes, obedience classes and training and testing for companion dog qualifications.
Website visitors can learn more about ICS, as well as the Assistance Dog Institute (ADI) and Pups for Peace, the partnering non-profit organizations that plan to join ICS so far. Users will enjoy learning about the college degrees offered by ADI, as well as the many important jobs dogs can learn to do, from crisis intervention and mobility assistance dogs to at-risk youth and autism service dogs.
ADI, in collaboration with ICS, also plans to offer community service programs like "doggie daycare" as part of its curriculum, including opportunities for both ADI students and other individuals interested in launching their own doggie day care programs to learn about these new business opportunities and challenges.
As the website explains, ICS has recently found a public partner for this ambitious project. At the invitation of the City of Marina, ICS recently entered into exclusive negotiations with the city for a specific property identified along Imjin Road. The Institute for Canine Studies (ICS) is a new local non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and expanding the many ways people and dogs can live healthier and more fulfilling lives together. A cooperative partnership among organizations that train people to train dogs that help people, ICS intends to build a public campus in Marina where dog-related nonprofits and members of the community can work together, share resources and create facilities to be shared among the organizations and with the general public.
