Healthcare and Community Leaders Join Natividad Medical Foundation’s

SALINAS, Calif - January 28, 2009 - The Natividad Medical Foundation has added three new members on its Board of Directors, including Dr. Margaret Eaton of Stanford University, Jose Montenegro of First 5 Monterey County and Dr. Minerva Perez, a Natividad Medical Group family medicine physician.

Margaret L. Eaton, PHAR M.D., J.D., earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy at Union University in Albany, New York, before completing her Doctor of Pharmacy at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Eaton later earned a Juris Doctor from Hastings College of Law at the University of California at San Francisco. Dr. Eaton served for eleven years as legal counsel for the Stanford Medical Center followed by research, teaching, and service positions at the Stanford Center for Biomedical Ethics. She currently teaches and publishes in the area of biotechnology business ethics and biomedical ethics.

Jose J. Montenegro, M.P.P., is the Community Partnership Manager at First 5 Monterey County and serves on the Cultural Competency Task Force of the Nonprofit Alliance of Monterey County. Mr. Montenegro earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Sciences from the Instituto Tecnologico Agropecuario No. 1 in Durango, Mexico, before completing a Master of Public Policy at the California State University at Monterey Bay, Leon & Sylvia Panetta Institute for Public Policy.

Minerva Perez, M.D., completed the Pre-Medical Program at Bryn Mawr College before earning her Medical Degree from Brown University School of Medicine. A graduate of Alisal High School in Salinas, Dr. Perez states, "My educational background offered outstanding opportunities, but my goal has always been to return to the community that I know and love." Dr. Perez completed the Natividad Family Medicine Residency Program in 2006, followed by an Obstetrical Fellowship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose. Dr. Perez now practices as one of two family practice physicians at the Natividad Medical Group clinic which opened its doors in 2007.
