MONTEREY, Calif. - March 30, 2009 - Café La Strada, located adjacent to the Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa's beautiful terraced plaza, will offer "Dollar Mondays" specials throughout the month of April. Patrons can purchase a large coffee for one dollar, a large latte for two dollars and receive 25 percent off all food items during the month.

Open since August, Café La Strada features a selection of fresh artisan pastries and desserts, including an assortment of muffins, tarts, scones, croissants, and danish, all handmade daily by the hotel's pastry chef. In addition, the café serves a limited variety of specialty food and snack items, including made-to-order sandwiches, salads, and of course fresh brewed Peet's Coffee & Tea. The café also offers a limited selection of locally produced retail items and apparel.

Rich, warm interiors are complemented by aged terra cotta floors, copper countertops, deep mahogany cabinetry, aged timber beams, and expansive windows. The name 'La Strada,' meaning 'The Row' in Italian, reflects the café's location along historic Cannery Row, immortalized by the famous American author John Steinbeck.

Café La Strada offers seating both indoors and out and is open daily at 6 a.m. The café also offers fresh pastries and baked goods to go along with daily breakfast and lunch specials.
