CASTROVILLE, Calif. - October 22, 2009 - For the past 50 years, family-owned and operated Ausonio, Inc. has been a trusted leader in building, design and construction throughout the Central Coast of California. Located in Castroville, the company has recently opened an additional office in downtown Santa Cruz.

Castroville native Andrew "Andy" E. Ausonio, completed his first construction project-a duplex in Castroville-while still a teenager in high school. In 1959 he founded Ausonio Construction and under his leadership the firm built commercial, industrial, and over 1,000 residential units throughout the Central Coast, including the Barnyard Shopping Center in Carmel, the Castroville Cold Storage building, and the Castroville Industrial Park-one of the largest commercial developments on the Central Coast.

This family legacy is continued today by his son Andrew P. Ausonio, who has been leading the company, now known as Ausonio Incorporated, for 15 years. A licensed civil engineer, Andrew leads the full-service construction firm with a hands-on approach and is actively involved in all phases of the Design-Build process. He manages a dedicated team of professionals with experience in many different kinds of building projects, including professional, commercial, manufacturing, processing, medical, hospitality, institutional, and custom residential.

A leader in green building, Ausonio, Inc. employs both LEED accredited professionals and Certified Green Building Professionals and has registered or is the builder of 23% of the LEED registered buildings in the Tri-County area, and has registered or is the builder of 39% in Monterey County. Most notably the company built the nation's first entirely green campus, Chartwell School in Seaside, which received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Platinum Certification in November 2007.

Over the years the firm has received numerous awards and acknowledgments including the 2005 Salinas Chamber Large Business of the Year Award and the Constructor Award in the Innovative Professionals Use in Construction Techniques and Materials category for the construction of Chartwell School from the Associated General Contractors of California. In addition to multiple AGC awards, the firm has received the EPA's prestigious Energy Star® rating for it's office building and in 2008 the company was the first construction firm in Monterey County to be certified as a Green Builder through the Monterey Bay Area Green Business Program.

A residential and commercial property management division of the family-owned company is also celebrating its 50th anniversary.
