Gonzales officer earns countywide recognition for outstanding service
Cordoba named 2022 Peace Officer of the Year
Gonzales Police Officer Nathan Cordoba was selected as the Monterey County Peace Officers Association's 2022 Peace Officer of the Year.
Last month the Monterey County Peace Officers Association (MCPOA) hosted its annual awards banquet to recognize professional and uniformed staff members for their outstanding efforts and contributions to public safety in 2022.
Cordoba, who also is Gonzales Police Department's 2022 Officer of the Year, was nominated for consideration for the MCPOA Peace Officer of the Year award in the Small Agency category by Gonzales Police Chief Keith Wise.
"Officer Cordoba exemplifies bravery, commitment to the profession, commitment to serving others and service to our community," Wise said. "He is truly deserving of this honor and recognition."
Cordoba has been employed with the Gonzales Police Department since 2019. He has served the department as a field training officer, school resource officer, mentor to fellow officers and supervising corporal, in addition to "all the great work he performed in 2022," according to the City of Gonzales in a news release Monday.
At the April 27 ceremony, Cordoba received a proclamation from Monterey County Board of Supervisor Luis Alejo in recognition of his outstanding service.
"Thank you for your outstanding service to the people of Monterey County," the proclamation states. "The measures you have taken for our community are exemplary and keep our neighbors safe. You are a true inspiration to everyone around you!"
He was also presented with certificates of recognition from Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez, Sens. John Laird and Anna Caballero and Assemblymembers Robert Rivas and Dawn Addis, as well as special Congressional recognition from Congressman Jimmy Panetta.
