This story discusses a possible floating desalination plant on the Monterey Bay and Senior Vice President for the engineering firm PBS&J, Skip Griffins presentation to Monterey County Officials on how a desal plant at sea, built by Water Standard Company, may be able to convert as much as 20 million gallons of seawater a day. The concerns of environmentalists are raised and addressed in this article, as the plant would operate on biodiesel fuel and use screens with tiny silts where water is drawn to cause a minimal impact on marine life.
