APR approached John Boudreau about rocket farms in 2009. John had plans to visit Taiwan and do a series of pieces on products from Taiwan that tie back to our area. After John learned of the Rocket Farm's phalaenopsis orchid history and tie to Taiwan, he chose to feature the orchids in this front page story. In his story, he talks about the orchids that are grown in Taiwan and shipped to Rocket Farms in California where the cool coastal climate is well suited for the blooming of the orchids. Marc Clark, Rocket Farms Executive Vice President is a regular visitor to Taiwan and talks in the article about the cross bleeding process and the revolutionary shipping process developed that allowed Rocket Farms to be one of the first growers in the US to order large quantities of phalaenopsis orchids from Taiwan.
