Local Company Builds Lasers for Military Use

This front page story on the business section focused on a local business in Monterey that in the midst of a recession still continues to grow by leaps and bounds. Laser Devices recently purchased a building off of Garden Road and celebrated their 30th anniversary. The owner, Heinz Thummel, has spent more than 40 years developing lasers and perfecting this technology, and holds several patents for the devices they produce. The devices are used by soldiers in the field, sold to countries that are friendly to the U.S. and used by law enforcement agencies.
